Hello dear Parents,
 we would like to communicate that this past week your children did a great job learning new concepts, and following the new routine and classroom rules. The upcoming week we will be learning about a very important topic, “My body” . We had prepared many different special activities for them.   

This week our objectives by areas are:
Language: sing the Sff! songs, identify vowels, recognize the initial sound of words, trace their own name.
Cognitive: number, meaning and recognition, classifying, sorting and setting, comparing.
Psychomotor: develop fine motor activities and pre-writing skills, spatial awareness.
Social/emotional: personal identity and autonomy.

Special Events and Birthdays:
The Student of the Week is ISHAAN PATEL,  we can’t wait to know more about his favorite things.
This week we will celebrate Grandparents Day on Friday 5th at 8:15 am. We are pleased to invite all Ositos Grandparents to come to our classroom and read to our children or make a special craft with them, they will be very happy and proud to have you here this special day.  
Happy Birthday to LAUREN MOUNT, we love you very much, have a wonderful time with your parents, family and friends!!!  

Family Project: This upcoming week we will be sending to you our template for the first family project.  

Friendly Reminders:
Dear parents:
•          Remember that your child only needs a blanket for naptime. Toys, special stuff animals or pillows are not allowed. Thank you for your cooperation.
•          Check your child’s journal to know what he/she is learning every day.
•          Check the Blog on weekends, to know in advance the activities your child will be doing during the week.
•          We are still missing some children’s profile. Please fill up and bring them back to the teachers. It is very important for us to have this information.
•          Also, we need family pictures for our corner “The Family”, your children feel happy and secure when they see you in a picture.
•          We have some spots left for volunteer parents. Please take a look to the sheet outside the classroom

Thank you for make your children wear the Sff uniform every day (red shirt, blue pants). We are so proud to announce that we are officially the winners of the uniform contest of the week. The classroom that have most children wearing the uniform every day, as a winner we had “Ice cream Day” today J.

Important Information  / introducing our New Volunteer

Dear Ositos Parents, we would like to introduce Gladys D' Estefano. She will be joining us for the next months to complete her practicum hours required for her degree completion. Expect to see her on Mondays.

Following please find her introduction:

Dear parents of Spanish for fun!
            I am Gladys D’Estefano, a student enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Associate Degree program at Wake Technical Community College. To meet the requirements of its curriculum and to be a graduated in December 2014, I need to complete 144 hours of practicum in an accredited Pre-Kindergarten, and Spanish for Fun is the perfect place to do it.
       
  I am a Psychologist graduated at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a Child Development Specialist who have a NC Infant/Toddler/Family Specialist Certification. Although it is my first time working as teacher in a preschool, I have 20 years of expertise as Clinical Psychologist working with young children.
           
I believe that during the practicum, I can provide valuable support to the team at Spanish for Fun by helping kids learn in a fun, creative and safe environment. Furthermore, as a parent facilitator at the program “Crianza con Cariño” from SafeChild and Smart Star, I also can support and help to you and your family with the growth and wellbeing of your child.

Blog Ositos Week August 25th -29th


Theme of the Week: Mi escuela y yo / My school and me

Hola Ositos parents, next week we will finish the theme of this month reviewing rules, routine, and the names of the areas and centers but also the names of all the classmates  and staff of our school including teachers administrative and our famous cooker Don Jacinto.

Objectives:
1. Language area:
*Follow simple instructions
*Identify the initial vowel of different words
*Visual memory-remember previously viewed items
*Differentiate long words from short words by counting their syllables
2. Cognitive area:
*Recognize colors red, blue and yellow
*Classify objects by size (large, medium and small objects)
3. Socio-emotional area:
*To interact positively with peers
4. Psychomotor area:
*Walking and running in different directions, forwards, backwards and side by side.
*Making dotted horizontal lines

*September 5- Grandparent's Day!! Please bring photos of your child's grandparents for next week  and please let us know if your child's grandparents can visit our classroon for that day.

August 18th – August 22nd

Dear Ositos Parents,

We are having a great time at Ositos Classroom, and we would like to invite you to check on facebook all our new posts and pictures every Wednesday.
Theme of the Week: “My School and Me/Mi Escuela y Yo”
Our Ositos have been doing a great job the first week of school, adapting to the classroom rules and routine, they have learned the different areas and centers of the classroom and how to work in each one with the different materials and toys. They also are having fun singing the new Sff songs every day.
This week we will reinforce the classroom rules, and we  will focus on learning the areas outside the classroom.  The Ositos will learn where the other classrooms are located, and will meet, recognize or identify  teachers and friends.

Words of the week :
We will continue learning words and expressions practicing the sff! new songs.

Special Events/Birthdays :
1.      Happy Birthday  to Oscar Militello, he turned four last week. Congratulations Oscar!!! You are a big boy!!!
2.      Congratulations to the Hughston family, their new member is on his way.

Friendly Remainders:
•          We are still missing some of your Child’s Profiles, please take a moment to fill out the form and bring it back to the teachers, this information is very important for us to get to know our Ositos.
•          Remember to bring 2 family pictures for our “Family” corner.
•          Remember to bring your child’s blanket (not pillows or stuffed animals are allowed) for naptime.
•          Remember to pick up your week for the special activities, “The Student of the Week” and “The Traveling Pet”…
•          Be an active member in your child’s activities at school, filling out the Volunteer List that is posted outside the classroom.
•          Remember to bring your child wearing the Sff! uniform everyday.

Week of August 11Th – 15th 2014


Hola Ositos parents:

We have finalized our summer camp with great satisfaction because the kids have enjoyed so bad all the different activities.  We are sure they had an unforgettable Summer at Sff!.
Thank you very much to all the parents for their support!! MUCHAS GRACIAS!!
Our best wishes to our graduated students who soon will begin  Kindergarten. Good Luck guys, we will miss you!!
Next week we will begin our new school year, welcome everyone to our Ositos classroom. Ms Amparo and Miss Iris have had  prepared many different cool activities  to help your child improving in all the area of development while having a lot of fun!

We will start talking about the theme Mi escuela/ My school. Children will get to know their teachers, classroom, classmates, centers and materials. We will emphasize in classroom rules and routine and  we will make games that help our children in their adaptation.

Week of August 4th – August 8th.


Dear Ositos Parents,

Next week is our last Summer camp week and we just want to say thank you to all of you for your support and for letting us enjoy with your child many different fun activities. We truly had an awesome time! Some of our Ositos will Stay with us this new school year, some of them are already  ready to go to Kindergarten, we feel so proud of our graduated students and we know you are going to do great in this new stage of life. Our best wishes for you and your wonderful families… We will miss you guys!!!

 Theme of the week:  “The Circus / El Circo”  
We are going to have a lot of fun learning about wild animals, clowns, dancers, and performing unforgettable shows like in a real Circus… It is going to be amazing!
