Week of May 16 - 20!

Dear Ositos Parents!
We hope you had a great weekend!
This week our Ositos will continue working the theme of the month “How we grow and change” and we will look at pictures and talk about the life stages. We will talk about our elders be respectful to them.
Thank you for all your pictures and posters they have been fun to have in our class to compare and talk about our own life stages.
This and next week we are having a very last special activity called “El libro viajero”, where each child will have the opportunity to take home a book to enjoy and read with his/her parents, along with this book, there will be a notebook, crayons and pencils to write anything your child may say or feel about the book after the reading. With this activity we will encourage our children to read and write about their feelings and interests.
I will send you more details on a later note.
Once more, thank you for all your support.
Miss Iris and Miss Claudia

Remember to check your child for tick and other insects. Also bring in sunscreen and insect repellent (only lotions, wipes and NON-aerosol sprays.)
A signed permission slip is required to administer sunscreen and insect repellent, please remember to fill one when bringing these items.
Please leave light-weight long sleeved shirts and pants, hats and sunglasses in your child’s cubby. And request that your child wear these items when outside in the sun.
Thank you

Week of May 9-13th!!

Hola Parents,
We hope all of you had a great Mother's Day and enjoyed the surprise your child made for you with love!!!
This week we continue working with the theme “How we grow and change", children will have the opportunity to arrange pictures in chronological sequence observing how a baby grows until becoming an adult.
We will also talk about our pictures and our growth and change.
We will be writing numbers and letters in our notebooks reviewing what we have learned so far.

We will have fun in our Music Class on Tuesday.
On Wednesday Sff! is hosting a reading event sponsored by Lucy Daniels Center promoting the joys of literature in our center.
And dance and movement on Thursday to energize our mind and body.

On a sad note we would like to inform you that Miss Ruth is no longer with us, last week she had to leave us due to a family emergency and will not be able to come back right away. We are going to miss her enormously.
We will keep you posted as a new teacher may arrive and assist Miss Iris in the afternoon.

Have a great week

Week of May 02-06!!

We Grow and change!
During the month of May, we will be talking about how we grow and change. With this theme we are looking to prepare children transitioning to kindergarten.
This week los ositos will observe pictures representing different ages and placed them in sequential order. We will also talk about the stages we go while we are growing.

As a class activity I would like to have pictures of every osito growing up, a couple of pictures reflecting the changes will help them understand better the concept and will reinforce their language skills, when they share with the rest of the class some information about the picture shown.

Words of the month:

Crecer – To Grow
Cambiar – To Change
Feliz Dia Mama - Happy Mother’s Day
El Adulto – The Adult
El anciano- The Old man
El adolescente – The teenage
El amor- Love
Secuencia - Pattern

On Friday we are having our Mother's Day Celebration, we are inviting all mothers and grandmothers to come and enjoy a delicious breakfast in your honor. Breakfast will be served between 8:30 and 10:30am. Las esperamos! The same day at 4pm our class will have the chance to perform  a little song we are dedicating to you on your special day.

Also please note we are in an area where during this time of the year, insects and other animals begin to appear, even though we are careful about it, we will need your help to keep up with it. This past week we found a tick crawling on one child’s neck. The head of the tick was not embedded so it was easily lifted off and thrown into the woods. But we will call the parent if the tick is embedded to come and remove the tick since the center is not allowed to remove ticks that are embedded.

Have a great week!
