Ositos Class
Miss Amparo and Miss Luz
Week of ( Semana de): January 11th-15th
Theme of the Week (Tema de la Semana): “Daily Media Information”
Dear Ositos Parents:
Communication is the way people share their thoughts and feelings.
This week our Ositos will learn that communication is very important for building and maintaining relationships with friends and family. They will also learn that this is a two-way process in which listening is as important as talking, and that it can be oral, written, or non-verbal.
Our Ositos will have a lot of
activities to develop their communication skills.
Our objectives by areas this
week, are:
Socio-emotional: Express their thoughts, feeling and interests in
appropriate way.
Cognitive: Make a sequence by size.
Psychomotor: Jump like a rabbit.
Language: Identify absurd situations and objects.
Literacy Activity: Letter of the week “Cc”.
Tips: The following tips can be used to help improve your child’s communication skills:
·
Practice,
practice, practice: Children whose parents talk to them more often and
in more complex sentences have wider vocabulary and can express themselves more
clearly and easily.
·
Be a
role model: the best way to help your child learn to communicate
well, is to demonstrate positive communication skills yourself. For example,
ask him/her lots of open-ended questions and be a good listener.
·
Use
games and role play: games and make-believe role playing activities can be
useful to teach communication skills in imagined scenarios.
Homework
of the week:
Make sure to take home your
child’s notebook this Friday to reinforce the activities that we are working in
class (LETTER Cc). Please bring them
back on Monday.
Remember,
kids are more successful in school when parents take an active interest in
their homework — it shows kids that what they do is important.
Student of the week:
Miles Scott is our student of the week, we are so excited to see your poster and can't wait to know more about you.

·
The weather is
getting cold, please bring appropriate clothes for your child: long sleeve
shirt, long pants, jacket, gloves, hat, scarf (in a labeled tote bag) and a cozy blanket for nap time.
·
Make sure your
child washes his/her hands when arriving and leaving the classroom.
·
Family Story Time: We still have spaces available for Story Time in our classroom. Let us
know if you would like to join us at 11.45 am, any day of the week.
·
For our
upcoming activities we will need your help by bringing cardboards of any size.
You can leave them outside the classroom (in the lobby area.)
January 18: School is closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.
Thank you notes:
Thank you for helping us to do
our activities with recycled material.
