Week of ( Semana de): April 18th-22nd
Theme of the Week (Tema de la Semana):  “The Plants/Trees” – “Las Plantas/Arboles”

Dear Ositos Parents,
This week our Ositos will continue learning about plants and in particular about trees. Children will be able to distinguish the different kind of trees, its importance and benefits.  The children will experience with tree textures and girth by getting in touch with the nature. They will also learn how trees support life of other organisms such as animals. Sapitos will learn what kind of animals live and nest in trees, what kind of fruits animals eat from trees and tips to take care of them.

Our Ositos will also honor our planet Earth on Friday and we have scheduled special fun activities. As this month is National Poetry Month, we will have a special session of Poetry watching Classical Baby “The Poetry Show” (The Grassy Grass Grass by Woody Guthrie).

Our objectives by areas this week are:
Socio-emotional: Draw the human body.
Cognitive: Work on sequences.
Psychomotor: String buttons.
Language: Read poems.

Tips
Plan a fun activity to teach your child how to help to protect the planet.
Homework of the Week
Make sure to take home your child’s notebook this Friday to go over things we were working in the classroom and bring them back on Monday.
Always remember kids are more successful in school when parents take an active interest in their homework.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to our big girl MAIVE JAKUBOWICZ, who will turn five on Monday 18th, and as a special gift she will take home our traveling pet “Willy”. He is so excited to celebrate Maive’s birthday with her. Don’t forget to take picture to share with your classmates.

Friendly Reminders
Check regularly your child’s cubby to take home art papers and clothing that he/she does not longer need.
Our children love listening stories from their relatives at Family Story tIme. Let us know if you would like to join us at 11.45 a.m. any day of this coming week.
