Class and Teachers:
Ositos Classroom/ Miss Amparo- Miss Iris
Week of : September 15th – September 19th
Theme of the Month/Week: How we grow and change /Como crecemos y cambiamos.
Hello dear Parents, this week we will focus in the social-emotional, and
language areas related to the theme “How we grow and change”. For this reason
we would like to ask you to bring by Monday, some of your child cloths she/he
used to wear when she/he was a baby, and special toys they used to play with when
she/he was one, two or three years old, (some examples: a pacifier, a little
blanket or bottle, a teddy bear, small shoes or shirts) that material will help
us to explain the changes that he/she
has been experiencing by growing up. It
will be also very helpful if you can bring some pictures of you (Daddy, Mommy)
when you were babies, teens, and your child’s picture when he/she was a baby.
Another important point that we would like to share with you is that
learning to listen attentively is important for both, social interaction and academic success.
Looking for opportunities to play simple listening games with your children will help them to finely attune their
listening skills and develop auditory discrimination skills. Here you can find
some simple games (riddles, twister) to play with your child.
Song of the Month/Week:
“Como Crecemos”
Hagamos una rueda y vamos a jugar
Si comes saludable tus huesos crecerán
Con esta canción tu aprenderás
Como tu estas creciendo…aquí en Sff!
Primero un bebecito pequeño tu serás
Después un niño sano y fuerte crecerás
Cuando tu seas joven al college tu iras
Y cuando seas adulto tu familia tendrás
Después serás anciano y abuelito te dirán.
Poem by Theme:
Cuando nace un niño
La vida es más bella
Aunque sea de noche
Brillan las estrellas.
Riddles/Charades:
Duerme bien en su cunita
A veces sonríe un montón
Es feliz con su mamita
Tomando su biberón
Respuesta: “El Bebe”
Twister (Trabalenguas):
Toto toma te, Tita toma mate
Y yo me tomo toda mi taza de chocolate.
Star Words of the Week :
To grow (Crecer)
Baby (el bebe)
Child (el niño)
Teenager (el joven)
Adult (el adulto)
Senior (el anciano)
Special Events, Welcome and Birthdays:
HAPPY B-DAY to LILY KIRKMAN, she will turn five on
September 18th, and she also is our Student of the Week. Lily,
you can bring your favorite toy, book, or picture during this week and talk
with your friends about them. Feliz Cumpleaños Lily!!
Friendly Reminders:
The first Family Project was a huge success. We can see the creativity
of our children and their families, but we are still missing some so please
don’t forget to bring it back this week.
We believe that family (parents, grandparents, siblings or other
relatives) involvement in the classroom has a great impact in children’s
development and academic success. We invite you to take part in your child’s
activities as a volunteer for Story time or make a special project (science,
cooking, art, etc.). You will be very welcome and your child will be very happy!!!
Important Upcoming Dates:
October 15 & 16: Picture Day
October 17: First Field Trip
October 31: Costume Parade
Thank you notes:
Thank you to Zaza Ebert, Marisa’s Grandma, who came last Friday
to read some books in Spanish, our Ositos were so interested and made questions
about the stories. They had a blast!
Thank you too to Honey Patel, one of our Room Parents, who will come
this week to spend some special time working a science project with our Ositos.
